The Story
Cross pendants first appeared in Finland in the 11th century, even before the introduction of Christianity. The prototype of this pendant, a silver cross depicting Jesus on one side and Virgin Mary on the other, is among the earliest cross pendants found in Finland. The Maaria cross (named after the municipality in South-West Finland where the original was found) was part of the Kalevala jewelry range from the 1940s till the early 2000s. Width 44 mm. Anchor chain 70 cm, no clasp.
