Preloved Lintunen pendant bronze

Since birds could fly, the ancient Finns believed they were messengers between humans and the gods. With their wings, birds would carry people's wishes and requests up to the heavens where the gods resided. A bird-shaped piece of jewelry was considered a lucky charm, bringing its wearer prosperity, success, and health. This bird was modeled after a pendant found in Southwest Finland, dating back the prosperous Viking Age. The Lintunen (Finnish for small bird) motif was part of Kalevala jewelry range from the 1950s through the 2010s. Width 22 mm, patterned on both sides. Anchor chain 60 cm, spring ring clasp.
